SELF DRIVE

Longreach is 1177km north west of Brisbane and just 686kms west of Rockhampton. All major highways are fully sealed, making driving comfortable and safe for all types of vehicles, including caravans and motor homes.

From Brisbane take the Warrego Highway through Toowoomba and Roma. From Rockhampton take the Capricorn Highway through Emerald. COACH

Greyhound coaches have a daily service from Brisbane to Longreach departing in the evenings and arriving the next day. They also operate a daily service between Rockhampton  and Longreach.

Their luxury coaches provide travellers with air conditioned comfort, reclining seats, rest room facilities, onboard movies and meal stops along the way.

RAIL

The Spirit of the Outback´s air conditioned train departs from Brisbane on Tuesdays and Saturdays travelling along the ever changing landscape to Rockhampton and then inland through the heritage towns of Blackwater, Emerald and Barcaldine to Longreach, arriving the next day.

Relax in the comfort of your seat or sleeper or socialise in the surroundings of the Captain Starlight Club Bar or The Stockmans Bar or enjoy a hearty meal in The Tuckerbox Restaurant.

Showers are provided at the end of each sleeping car with toilets located at the end of all sleeping and sitting cars.

Motorail facilities are available on every service so you can take your car or 4WD with you on holidays. This service allows passengers to travel one way and have the convenience of using their own car to explore Queensland´s interesting outback towns and tourist attractions at a leisurely pace.
